The Cappadocian Fathers and their Time:
Tradition and Innovation (Barcelona, 2024, November, 7th-9th)
Call for papers
The end of the 4th century was an effervescent time in the Roman Empire, when the ancient Greek tradition was transformed by the great Christian formulations. Three figures stood out in the intellectual field: Gregory of Nazianzus, Gregory of Nyssa and Basil of Caesarea, known as the Cappadocian Fathers. In addition to these figures, mention should be made of Macrina, Gregory’s and Basil’s sister.
The aim of the conference is to approach these figures from multidisciplinary perspectives, considering the historical, artistic, theological, literary, philological, philosophical or educational context, as well as gender perspective or any other innovative approach.
Presentations(*): please send an abstract between 300 and 500 words and a short CV (150 words) to cappadociansbcn2024@gmail.com before July 10th. Acceptance will be communicated by July 25th
